About us

Melissa + Jehosh

Two potters, one kiln, and a soft spot for strange things.

Our story

Why fish? Why an eye?

Fish & Eye Studios started the way most good things do: too much clay, not enough shelf space, and two people who couldn't stop making stuff. What started as a hobby turned into a weird little pottery business working out of Chicagoland.

We make pieces that are meant to be used, like teacups, tumblers and planters, and pieces that are meant to be looked at, like goblins, gothic shrines and cottages on chicken legs. Usually both at once.

Our mark is a fish, a plus sign and an open eye: fish + eye. [Tell the story behind the logo here.]

How we work

Small batches, made by hand

Made by hand

Every piece is wheel-thrown or hand-built, then carved and trimmed by one of us.

Fired in small batches

We glaze in small runs, so colors shift a little from kiln load to kiln load.

Weird on purpose

We make the strange little things we couldn't find anywhere else.

Care & use

Our functional pieces are food-safe and can go in the dishwasher and microwave unless the listing says otherwise. Hand washing will keep them looking their best. Sculptural pieces are for display only.
